Your rack is on, it looks great - now lets make it silent!
When installing a roof rack on a vehicle, one of the most common issues that arises is wind noise. This can be particularly frustrating, especially given the long distances we often travel for our adventures.
Fortunately, we designed our racks with multiple points of adjustment to reduce or fully remove wind noise. This article is a guide on where adjustments can be made on a Sherpa rack to help decrease wind noise if you're experiencing it.
Adjustment Options
1. Front Fairing
The first, and most effective, adjustment to make is with the front fairing. All of our racks are designed to allow the fairing to be adjusted up and down. It is important to note that you do not want the fairing contacting the roof. There should always be some sort of gap for air to travel through. Additionally, small movements with this adjustment can make a huge impact on wind noise.

2. Side Plate Adjustment
The second adjustment point is on the sideplates of the rack. If adjusting the wind fairing up or down does not get rid of the wind noise, the next step is to move your entire rack either forward or backward. Simply loosen the socket button bolts holding the sideplates to the crossbars (specifically the ones connected to the mounting feet). Once those are all loose, you will be able to adjust the rack forward or backwards as needed.
