It's easy to mount a ski rack to your Sherpa!
You just have to know what mounting styles to look for and how to work around the styles that don't work as well. Today we are going to show you what to look for and how to install your ski racks!
Mounting Styles to look for.
1. Adjustable Clamp Style (Our Favorite)
The adjustable clamps are by far the best method to mount a ski rack and the one shown in our video below. These use a rubber or elastic band that can be adjusted to small or large crossbars. These work perfectly on our 1x2" crossbars and can be installed or taken off with ease depending on what your adventures entail! Modularity is key and the best part of a Sherpa Roof Rack.
2. Direct Mount (Lowest Profile)
Direct mounting is a great option for modifying a ski rack which came with a mounting style that does not work with the Sherpa crossbars. Most ski racks allow you to remove the included mount, leaving a hole in the bottom of the ski rack. You can then find the correct length bolt and bolt the ski rack directly into our Drop in T-Nuts on your Sherpa Roof Rack. You can also achieve this with Yakima Ski Racks using their Smart Slot Kit.
