Exploring German Manufacturing: Insights and Inspiration for Better Rack Systems.
By Alex Fleming
At Sherpa Equipment Co, we prioritize the reliability, quality, and sustainability of our products. That is why we have made significant efforts to bring as much of the manufacturing process in-house as possible. One of the key components of this process is our 8k fiber laser from Mazak, which has been instrumental since it's installation in August of 2021.

This system is the 8k 3015 Optiplex System from Mazak with Laserflex Load/Unload Automation from Remmert GmbH. It is a highly modular system that allows us to add many components to increase the efficiency of our Mazak Laser and production as a whole.
The Laserflex system is designed to load a pallet of around 30 sheets of material, and it can cut through the entire pallet without the need for human intervention. This frees up labor for other tasks and allows us to cut materials after hours without requiring staff on hand. We are continuously looking for ways to increase the efficiency and productivity of our manufacturing processes, and the Laserflex system has been a significant step in that direction.
Recently, Sherpa had the privilege of traveling to Germany with Mazak USA and Remmert GmbH to learn more about automation in manufacturing. The trip provided us with a unique opportunity to explore German manufacturing and learn about the quality and reliability that they are renowned for. We visited several facilities and companies and witnessed firsthand their emphasis on automation, which can significantly improve the productivity of the manufacturing process.
We were impressed with the emphasis on quality and precision in the facilities we visited, and it greatly aligned with our core values here at Sherpa. The trip was an inspiring experience, and we gained valuable insights from industry leaders that we can apply to improve our operations moving forward. The trip was a great opportunity to explore new approaches to manufacturing and learn from the German culture's rich history of excellence in manufacturing.
We are grateful for this experience and look forward to implementing what we learned to enhance our operations further. All of this trickles down to shorter wait times, higher quality, and more innovation for the end user of our Premium Rack Systems and Accessories.
We can't wait for the next opportunity to visit Germany again.
A video from Remmert GmbH is coming soon and will be shared here.
