I own two of these cases, they are built very rugged. You can stand on them (I weigh around 180lbs). Older version struts connect base to lid works well and it’s nice that it opens with little effort. The knew version I purchased seems to have changed the strut system to attach to a steel hinge which in turn connects the base to the lid. This allows you to open the lid only part of the way if you want. This feature is super nice if it’s raining or snowing. Open the lid part way for you to access but still prevents rain and snow from pouring in.
(STANDARD MASTER-LOCKS WONT FIT!) One down side is the locking system, yes there are two or three locking points, depending on model, but the size of lock you can actually use with these cases is like a suitcase lock. It would be super easy for them to change this. I guess, if someone really wants your stuff they will just take an angle grinder and go, but the ability to use a bigger or even standard size lock would be nice.
The cases attach perfectly to the Sherpa systems however make sure you order the case mounts. My first case came with them. The second case did not, even though it was advertised as free with case purchase. Fortunately I bought a second pair when I purchased the first case hoping to have 4 mounting points,2 cross bar and 2 side rail. But I was not able to attach to both. The case still feels super solid at the 2 attachment points.
4 stars due to lock size and not receiving the advertised mounts.
