I put this purchase off for too long. Just preset this rack now and you won’t be disappointed. Installation is extremely easy. I simply watched the YouTube video and got help from a buddy. It took 2.5 hours start to finish including unboxing. The materials are high quality and I have zero regrets. My only advice would be to include 10 nut covers for the stainless bolts. I added my own covers due to the nuts being obvious when entering the vehicle.

Long story short, my 4runner is of course the odd ball and does not have a factory rack railing system on it. Reached out to Sherpa asking them questions on what can be done for installation and/or returning. They sent over an RMA form and provided me with advise on what I can do to possibly keep my rack. Got on eBay and found a full OEM rack rail system and I get to keep my Sherpa rack after all. 5 stars for their patience and willingness to work out this situation with/for me.

The sport vesion is the light-medium duty one, but it feels plenty sturdy. I followed the PDF and watched both videos on youtube (video especialy good for the front mounts). I installed it outside during a snowstorm and it took me 3 hours. Since my Hilux Surf tracks are wider than the 4runner, I had to fabricate some custom plates using a flatbar and user the 4runner squares as a bolt. This as a quality item.

After some researching and weighing the pros and cons it came down to Sherpa. Finally got the Roof rack I wanted. Install was easy and simple. A lot easier if you have a helper. Doable to do it alone. Did run into an issue but after reaching out, the Sherpa crew was there to help no questions asked. Would definitely recommend.

Solid rack, quality product. Very satisfied with the finish. Cant wait to slap on my cases on it and go camping.
